 Upcoming Meetings

  • Tuesday, March 12, 11:20 am – 2:00 pm GoTriangle Board of Trustees will hold a work session on DOLRT. Our representatives are Council Member Michael Parker from Chapel Hill, Commissioner Mark Marcoplos from Orange County, and Chair Wendy Jacobs from Durham County.
  • Tuesday, March 12, 7:00 pm, GoTriangle will make a DOLRT presentation to the Orange County Commissioners in a work session; no public comment allowed. You can write your commissioners at this address.
  • Wednesday, March 13, 1:00 pm, MPO Board meeting. Durham City Hall, Secretary Trogdon is first on the agenda.
  • Wednesday March 13 or Thursday March 14, Transit Partners meet to discuss options. Chair Penny Rich and Commissioner Mark Marcoplos represent Orange County. Time has not yet been set.
  • Tuesday, March 19, 7:00 pm, Orange County Commissioners will consider DOLRT and receive public comment
  • March 27, GoTriangle Board of Trustees
  • April 24th, GoTriangle Board of Trustees, work session on the budget

Recent Meetings

  • January 10, 2019: Financial Task Force, Durham and Orange elected officials and staff meet to discuss new costs

  • January 16, 2019: MPO Regional Meeting, discussion of GoTriangle TOD Guidebook

    • Chapel Hill Council Member Council Member Parker tells MPO that Chapel Hill growth estimates for station areas need to be corrected in Transit Oriented Development Guidebook.
  • January 22, 2019: Orange County Commissioners, discussion of  GoTriangle TOD Guidebook

    • GoTriangle’s Patrick McDonnough acknowledges they recorded UNC property as taxable in growth estimates in some tables
    • GoTriangle concurs with questions from Commissioner Bedford that none of infrastructure costs of parking decks, bridges, pump stations or affordable housing investments are included.
    • At a council meeting, CHTC sent a letter to GoTriangle, asking them to specifically qualify that revenues may be overstated due to tax exempt property in the TOD guidebook. Letter points out that Chapel Hill elected officials were not involved in developing the assumptions about land use, density or mix.

  • February 5, 2019: Orange County Commission:  David Kiel presented this petition to the Orange County Commission asking for an independent financial review and for a stop to continuing to fund out of control costs on light rail.
  • February 13, 2019: Chapel Hill Town Council:  David Adams and Julie McClintock, representing Affordable Transit for All, presented this petition for more bus hours to be included in the negotiations with GoTriangle and Durham County.
  • February 19, 2019: Orange County Commission: Commission will considered hiring Davenport to review GoTriangle’s cost figures. Decide to wait and call a special meeting if needed.
  • February 27 a.m.  GoTriangle Board of Trustees meeting:  adjources at 1:45 for two closed sessions lasting until 4:00 pm:  Officials had learned already about Duke intent not to sign agreement, but this news was not shared publicly.
  • February 27  MPO meeting, 7:00 pm: readjusted time lines for Orange and Durham transit plans
